Tech Safety and Prevention Lead
Full time
THE ROLE
The Tech Safety and Prevention team is based within WAGEC’s Client Programs department and works to educate frontline staff, and support women and families who are experiencing technology-facilitated family/domestic violence.
This Lead role will head up a small, new team to promote and educate about online safety and tackling technology-facilitated abuse and exploitation. The role requires sound technical knowledge with an emphasis on empowering victim-survivors, using trauma-informed approaches and survivor-centred strategies to assist individuals affected by coercive control, online abuse, financial exploitation, and other types of digital harm.
This is a female-identified role, as per Section 126A of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), due to the need to attend refuge sites to meet with clients and staff.
This is full-time, hybrid role for an initial period of 24-months and requiring visits to WAGEC sites as required.
The core responsibilities of this role are:
- Provide specialised advice and support to staff and clients to identify, assess and mitigate technology-facilitated abuse for survivors.
- Coordinate and facilitate training programs and multimedia resources for frontline staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain key working relationships with government, corporate and community stakeholders.
- Lead the implementation of the Tech Safety and Prevention team, report on deliverables, and provide supervision to two Educators.
ABOUT YOU
- You are proficient in relevant technical tools, platforms, and software used for digital investigations, such as data analysis software, digital forensics, or cybersecurity tools
- Ideally, you’ll have experience working with technology and/or telecommunications sectors, and a strong understanding of how technology is used to facilitate domestic and family violence and abuse.
- You’re a skilled communicator, able to adapt your style to inform clients, staff, and community stakeholders
- You’re a strong people and projects manager, able to develop our new Tech Safety and Prevention project, and recruit, train and manage two Tech Educators.
