Meet Anna and Fliss, the women behind Primer!
Introduce yourself! Who are you and how did you hear about WAGEC?
We’re two ex-magazine editors and the co-founders of PRIMER, which is a newish website that reaches 30k Australian women every month. We cover everything from social issues to lighter lifestyle content.
What does community mean to you?
We heard about WAGEC when we were setting up PRIMER as we wanted to deliver a percentage of profits to an organisation helping women. We’ve both worked in newspapers and magazines for a number of years and we've written about domestic violence a lot in that time, so it was an issue that resonated with us. WAGEC was recommended to us by a few contacts. We met Helen, and got on well!
What strengths did you bring to the WAGEC community? How did you offer support?
We have raised small amounts of money from our community, and also promoted and covered other WAGEC fundraisers and activities on our social channels and website. We’ve also helped out with writing press releases, and writing mini profiles of WAGEC staff. We do whatever we can – and really enjoy it!
What is something you are grateful for amidst these uncertain times?
Lots of things – we’re grateful to live in Australia, given the enormous tragedy that has unfolded in other countries. We’ve both had small children at home, and although it has been - shall we say - quite busy at times, it’s also been incredibly precious. The opportunity to retreat from the fast pace of life has been a relief at times too.
