Fundraise for an end to
gender-based violence

Turn your birthday, fitness challenge or next event into meaningful action for gender equality by raising funds for WAGEC.

A powerful way to show you care

It could be big or it could be small. It could be joyful, sweaty, sparkly, crafty, festive, or fun.

No matter your style, every fundraiser for WAGEC helps provide safe accommodation, crisis support, recovery programs, and long-term pathways to freedom for women, trans and gender-diverse people, and children.

Together we can end gender-based violence in a generation.

Steps to start a fundraiser!

The fundraising ripple effect

Fundraisers are a vital part of ending gender-based violence and building greater gender equality. Not only because of the funds they raise, but because they help build awareness, start conversations and bring more people into the movement for change.

Here’s how your efforts help create safe futures while showing what’s possible when people come together around a shared purpose.

Providing safety and essentials

In FY2025-26, WAGEC supported 1,913 women, trans and gender-diverse people, and children fleeing violence and provided 61,007 nights of safe accommodation alongside essential goods, case management and counselling sessions.

Bringing people together

Thousands of you showed up to raise $187,440 through a record-breaking 46 community-led fundraisers in FY2024-25, helping turn community care into practical action to keep our family programs and refuges open and safe.

Raising national awareness

Fundraisers are a vital part of shaping public understanding of an issue or cause. From art galleries to sporting fields, each WAGEC fundraiser sparks a potentially life-saving conversation about gender equality, respect and safety.

Questions about
fundraising

We welcome individuals, families, schools, workplaces, community groups, sporting clubs, and businesses to fundraise for WAGEC. From birthday fundraisers and bake sales to major workplace campaigns, every effort helps create safer futures and brings more people into the movement to end gender-based violence. Fill in our fundraising form and get started.

The best fundraisers are the ones that feel authentic to you and your community. You might host an event, take on a physical challenge, organise a workplace fundraiser, sell something you’ve made, or ask for donations instead of gifts. If it aligns with WAGEC’s values and helps bring people together safely and respectfully around a good cause, we’d love to hear about it. Email fundraising@wagec.org.au to discuss your idea.

Absolutely. Many supporters choose to fundraise through events they’re already taking part in, such as City2Surf, local fun runs, sporting events or global occasions like International Women’s Day or the 16 Days of Activism. You can also join one of WAGEC’s own fundraising events, including Walk for WAGEC, and be part of a larger community coming together to create change. Find out more about our upcoming events.

Yes. Workplace fundraising is a fantastic way to build team connections while supporting an important cause. Your organisation might host a fundraising event, run a team challenge, match employee donations, sponsor a campaign or create an ongoing workplace giving program. We’re happy to work with you to find an approach that suits your team.
