Every number on this page represents a loved one, a mother, a child, a survivor, a friend. Their stories of healing and hope is what your support makes possible.

Every night, WAGEC supports 200 women, trans and gender-diverse people, and children in crisis. That’s 200 people who needed somewhere safe to turn, and found it on our doorstep. But our work does not stop there.
Alongside safe refuge accommodation, case management and practical support, we invest in recovery, healing, prevention, and advocacy. Because ending gender-based violence doesn’t happen in a single moment.
It takes a lifetime of support, a generation of changed attitudes, and a community willing to stand up and say: violence ends with us.
Violence prevention work and behaviour change is essential, but it can be some of the hardest work to find funding for. Your support helps us bring violence prevention education to more schools, services and communities: reaching young people before harmful attitudes take hold, and building the kind of community-wide change that lasts generations.
Economic insecurity keeps many survivors trapped long after they’ve left a violent relationship. Our Access mentoring program helps women, trans and gender-diverse people to rebuild confidence, connection and financial independence. More funding means more mentors, more participants, and more people finding their way forward on their own terms.
Children who live through domestic and family violence carry its weight long after the immediate crisis has passed. Specialist support, school engagement programs and early intervention can make an extraordinary difference to whether a child feels safe, connected and able to thrive. Your support helps us expand this work.
A woman calls our crisis line at 7pm. She needed somewhere safe that night. Through our Domestic Violence Response service, we found her and her son refuge, a case worker, and a plan. Three months later, they moved into transitional housing and are starting to rebuild.
Her son hasn’t spoken much since they left. Through our Helping Children Heal program, he started finding words for what had happened, and then started finding his confidence.
A Year 8 class was learning about healthy and respectful relationships. Their teacher had completed WAGEC’s All In training. Later that day, a girl knocks on her counsellor’s door to share something she’d been carrying alone.
These three moments aren’t separate. They’re the same work, at different points on the same continuum of creating safe futures.
