Supporter Spotlight – Ash Ignatowicz

31 Oct 2020

Introduce yourself! Who are you and how did you hear about WAGEC?

Hello, Ash here! I am a woman who loves meeting people and is always looking for ways to make a positive impact around me.

I was looking for an opportunity to develop and practice my coaching skills outside of work and by chance, came across a post in my workplace’s social network to volunteer for WAGEC’s ACCESS mentoring program. Applications closed that same day so I took it as a sign that it was meant to be and signed up immediately and wow am I glad I did!

What does community mean to you?

Community to me means connection and support. I believe that everyone will need their community at some point in their lives and to have supportive, kind people around can make a load a little bit lighter.

What strengths do you bring to the WAGEC community? How do you offer support?
I support the WAGEC community as a Mentor in their ACCESS program. I bring a genuine interest in helping people to develop new skills as well as adaptability, empathy and gentle encouragement.

Who is a strong woman that inspires you and why?

Kiwi at heart, I have great admiration for my homeland’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Adern who inspires me with her leadership. Well known for her compassion and authenticity, I find it refreshing to have such a female role model and hope we see more like her closer to my now home here in Australia. A quote of hers I connect with is “I refuse to believe you cannot be both compassionate and strong”.
