Case Managers Clare's Experience

By WAGEC

Published on January 13, 2022

For Case Managers working over the festive period, they see the increase in demand firsthand. This is what Clare, one of our domestic violence workers, told us recently about working during the summer months.

“From Christmas to the New Year, it is usually eerily quiet. It’s eery because we know violence for women and families gets worse during this time but there is a pressure to stay. As soon as January comes around, that is when we begin to see a lot of women leaving and presenting at our service. It is also when we see the severity of violent incidents increase.”

If last year taught us anything, it is that it takes a community approach to keep people safe. Thank you to our entire WAGEC Community for your ongoing support, especially given the recent and ever evolving situation with Omicron.
