WALK FOR WAGEC 2025

By WAGEC

Published on March 5, 2025

Our favourite event of the year is back and bigger than ever! Registrations are officially open for Walk for WAGEC 2025.

Violence against women and children is a national crisis. But together, we can change it.

On average in Australia, a woman is killed every four days. Each fortnight, a child dies as a result of domestic and family violence.

Last year, just a few days before Walk for WAGEC 2024, violence against women was declared a national crisis. Now, almost a year on, nothing has changed.

It’s devastating. It’s unacceptable. And it’s why we walk. By signing up to Walk for WAGEC, you’re helping us call for an end to this violence. You will also be helping to raise crucial funds to help women and children facing violence to find the support they need.

What is Walk for WAGEC?

Walk for WAGEC is a 5km walk or 10km run around Centennial Park, Sydney, to raise money for women and children impacted by violence. This year, the event is on the 4th May, 2025.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 to continue supporting the women and children in WAGEC’s refuges, and call for an end to violence.

How donations help

Every night, WAGEC supports 200 women and children facing violence to find safety and a good night’s rest. We’re aiming to raise $500,000 that will:

  • Provide emergency accommodation to women and children escaping domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Fund programs that support women to recover from trauma and build safer futures of themselves and their families.
  • Support children impacted by domestic violence and homelessness to heal, thrive and grow into healthy adults.
  • Help up advocate for change in policy and support with government.

Early bird special ends soon!

You know what they say—the earliest birds get the juiciest discounts.
With this year set to be the biggest Walk on record, and something exciting in store for everyone (did someone say prizes?), now is the perfect time to step up and be counted.

Sign up to Walk for WAGEC before Sunday March 16th and get $10 off your registration fee.

We can't wait to see you there!
