Life in the Refuge

Last month we told you about Garden Club – but what happens during garden club when it rains?

Often times, the kids go outside rain or shine, but this month one of our case managers led them in a drawing activity that proved to be rich in imagination.

“One child explained that his tree house had a slide and a telescope to look at the stars at night. You could go fishing from the deck of his treehouse. Another drew a bed for each of his siblings and mum. Outside the tree house was a flower garden. He said friends and family could visit but needed to know the code for the tree house ladder to come down for them to climb up.”

Activities like these not only provide kids with opportunities that nurture their creativity, but they also encourage socializing amongst all of the children and young people living in our accommodation.
