Introduce yourself! Who are you and how did you hear about WAGEC?

Hi I’m Nancy :) I am a woman that loves exploring my local and global community, learning more about people, and how we live & connect.

I had been looking for a place to volunteer for a while when my friend mentioned some yoga work she was doing with WAGEC. It sounded like such a great idea, and when I researched online and saw what the organisation stood for, I knew I really wanted to contribute and to be part of this.

What does community mean to you?

Community to me means knowing that you’re not in it alone. Travelling as a herd and making sure that no-one is left behind. It’s that feeling that you belong, and that you’re contributing to something where there’s a greater sense of purpose.

What strengths did you bring to the WAGEC community? How did you offer support?

The strengths that I brought to WAGEC was creativity and my eagerness to help. So far I have been offering support through graphic design work and helping to visually communicate the values of WAGEC. The work is rewarding and interesting and I hope to keep contributing in many different ways.

Who is a strong woman that inspires you and why?

So many to list! Melinda Gates, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Gilbert, Mari Andrew... My mum is definitely up there, her strength, resilience through change and ability to build so much from nothing, is nothing short of incredible.
