Who are you and what do you do at WAGEC?

My name is Rebecca Lazenby, I’m a graphic facilitator and I offer my services to WAGEC to help the team work out ideas, think of ways to do things differently and work out strategies.

What does community mean to you?

I think the essence of community is humanity - striving for equity and trying to empathise, care and be kind to one another with integrity and without judgement.

What strengths did you bring to the WAGEC community? How did you offer support?

I love working with the WAGEC team , it’s simply the most rewarding work I do.  My job is to listen and through relevant illustration, help the group to see connections, tensions and the structures of the concepts they are discussing.  When I am working I have a sort of hyper focus on the conversation, so I’d say paying attention is the strength I bring and that people notice when you are listening closely and appreciate really being heard. I think the visuals can be useful but are secondary to that!

Who is a strong woman that inspires you and why?

She isn’t famous :) but I am always learning from my friend, Skel, she constantly impresses me with her kindness, her truly incredible intellect, resilience, open mindedness and capacity for love.
